Greenfield home health care worker forged checks from clients, police say

GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A Greenfield home health care worker is in jail after police say she stole and cashed checks to herself from her elderly clients.

Dominique Johns, 24, faces felony charges that include forgery and fraud on a financial institution.

Greenfield police say three families that had employed Johns reported checks being stolen and cashed from the accounts of elderly family members in early November. The authorizing signatures on those checks, police say, belonged to neither the account holder or the power of attorney for the person.

Later, a fourth family reported a similar incident that detectives were able to connect to Johns.

Johns was arrested on Nov. 30 at the Greenfield Banking Company after police were told someone was trying to cash a check from the account of the fourth victim.

Johns remains in the Hancock County Jail.
