Missing Texas girl crossed Mexico border to meet older man she met online
KATY, Tex. (KRON) – A runaway Texas teenager was found Sunday in Mexico City, where she allegedly went to be with a man she met online.
The parents of 13-year-old Ashlee Hattermann say she disappeared after school on Friday.
She had hopped on a Mexico-bound bus to meet a 29-year-old man who she’d been communicating with for a year, her parents told KHOU.
The two were reportedly using social media apps to send each other explicit messages and sexual pictures.
After finding out about this, her parents say they took away her phone and gave it to local police.
FBI agents in San Antonio and Laredo joined in the investigation Sunday afternoon, according to a report from KHOU.
Sheriff’s deputies tweeted that the girl was found later that day.
