Colts former coach Ron Meyer dies

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Ron Meyer, who coached the Indianapolis Colts from 1986 to 1991, has died, according to tweets from the team’s owner and media reports.

Jim Irsay noted that Meyer took the Indianapolis team to its first playoff appearance in 1987. They lost to the Cleveland Browns 38-21 in AFC Divisional Game on Jan. 9, 1988.

Meyer was fired midseason in 1991.

He was the New England Patriots coach from 1982 to 1984.

He played football at Purdue University in 1961 and 1962.

Meyer was reportedly age 76.
