Indianapolis businessman visits Trump in Oval Office

WASHINGTON (WISH) — The owner of an Indianapolis small business was a special guest Tuesday at the White House.

He was there to talk to President Donald Trump about tax reform. The Trump administration says it expects a tax cut bill on the president’s desk before Dec. 25. Trump invited small-business employees from North Dakota, Indiana, Virginia and Ohio into the Oval Office to explain how cutting taxes will boost the economy.

Aaron Williams from Indianapolis was seated next to Trump. Williams said he was eagar to explain why he needs a simpler tax code.

“I’ve been thousands of dollars every year on taxes, that’s more time I could have spent with my family or investing in my company,” Williams said.

But it’s up to Congress to decide what America’s tax laws will actually look like. This week, lawmakers from the House and the Seante must compromise on several factors:

  • The number of tax brackets and who would pay what
  • The corporate tax rate and when it would go into effect.
  • Whether they should remove the law requiring Americans to have health insurance.

But Democrats say no matter what details Republicans settle on, the tax bill will only help the wealthy.
