Carmel PD presents $7,507 raised during No-Shave November to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — The Carmel Police Department presented a $7,507 check to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Tuesday.

The money was raised as part of the departments No-Shave November fundraiser.

The department’s goal was to raise $5,000 for the organization. 100 police department employees along with community sponsors donated to the fundraiser.

More than 50 officers grew facial hair.

“We’re kind of a family here at the police department. And we’re able to partner up with the community. For such a great cause and I know it’s affected not only members of our police department family but also some of our personal family outside of law enforcement so it’s great for us to give back to the community especially for that research and that great cause,” said Lt. Joe Bickel with the Carmel Police Department.

More than 30 officers participated in a shave-off over the weekend at Main Street Barber Shop in Carmel.
