Santa visits kids at IMPD pancake breakfast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas after snow on Saturday in central Indiana.

What better way to get into the holiday spirit than breakfast with Santa?

That’s what hundreds of families were treated to on Saturday morning, when IMPD’s southeast district made pancakes and Santa stopped by.

While it was a fun event for families, officers were also able to meet people in the district, showing them a different side of the department.

“Probably I’m not gonna be as scared because every time I see a cop, I feel like I’m getting in trouble,” Kendra Sears, a young person who attended the event.

“Now they see the officers here and interacting with them, and that’s what it’s all about,” said Rachel Cooper with Southeast Community Organization.

Kids were also able to pick out a toy — many of those toys were collected through the WISH-TV Tweet for Toys pick-up as part of our WISH Tree drive.

There’s still time to drop off a new, unwrapped toy that will be handed out by Indy Public Safety Foundation. Click here to learn more.
