Danville police in search of man after allegedly attempting to lure girls into Jeep

UPDATE

Danville police said Tuesday night in a Facebook post that the driver “was an acquaintance that was driving a different vehicle than usual, and there is no reason to believe that the individual was, or currently is, a threat to anyone.”PREVIOUS

DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Officials in Danville are searching for a driver of a suspicious vehicle they believe attempted to lure young girls on Sunday.

The incident took place around 5:00 p.m. in the Stratford Ridge Subdivision near James Court after police were informed that a man in a Jeep Wrangler attempted to lure two young girls into his vehicle.

He allegedly told the girls to “come over here” and “get in” the vehicle. The girls left to go into their residence and the vehicle left shortly after.

The driver is described as being a white male in his 40s.

The Wrangler is described as being a black, newer model with a hard top and two doors.

The incident remains under investigation and is believed to be isolated.

If you have any information or can identify the vehicle’s owner, you’re urged to contact the Danville Police Department tip line at 317-745-3001.
