2 bodies found in south Fort Wayne home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) –Two bodies were found in a south Fort Wayne home after several hours of investigation Tuesday.

Police responded just before 10 a.m. Tuesday to a home at 2423 S. Calhoun St., near West Taber Street two blocks west of Ivan Lebamoff Reservoir Park, on a report of a suspicious person there. According to a report from Fort Wayne Police spokesman Jim Seay, the owner of the home called police after he heard “noise” coming from the upstairs of a vacant property where he had gone to work.

Officers arrived at the home and heard what they believed to be a gunshot inside the home, Seay said.

At that time, the police department’s tactical teams were called out, and Calhoun Street was closed to traffic from Pontiac Street to West Creighton Avenue.

Police tried to contact a subject inside the home but that effort was unsuccessful, Seay said. At some point thereafter, a robot was sent into the home and a male was found unresponsive inside.

When officers went inside, the body of another male was found inside, Seay said.

It’s not clear who the victims are or how they died. The Allen County Coroner will release that information later.
