FRANKLIN, Ind. (WISH) – A 20-year-old was sentenced to seven years in prison Monday after a jury found him guilty last month on a single count of child molesting.
Tyler Buskirk was charged in April with molesting a family member during summer 2016. Authorities said after Buskirk was kicked out of his home in May 2016, he stayed with other family members, during which he molested a girl. The victim testified about the incidents, which were said to have occurred during the month Buskirk stayed at the residence of the other family members.
Buskirk was given 255 days jail credit and had two days suspended as part of the sentence in Johnson Circuit Court. He will face two years of probation upon release. The judge recommended Buskirk receive a psychological evaluation. The sentence also required Buskirk to obtain his high school equivalency diploma. The court also said it would consider modifying the sentence after three years in prison.
He also must register as an Indiana sex offender when released from prison as part of the sentence.
