Top dogs to compete in nation’s largest dog show

Being crowned Best in Show is not easy. The dogs and their handlers have a close canine-human bond that results in exciting moments.

The AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin is the largest dog show in North America, with nearly 5,000 dogs from across the world expected to compete for the most prize money in the world of dog sports.

The three-hour special, airing on New Year’s Day, will allow viewers to spend the holiday enjoying the world’s most beloved dog breeds competing in conformation to win Best in Show.

Dog lovers will also be able to see the amazing things dogs can do through performance events including agility, obedience and dock diving plus a new puppy event.

Gina DiNardo, spokesperson for American Kennel Club, has had life-long involvement with purebred dogs. She has been attending dog shows since she was two years old and showed her first dog at age five. Gina has more than 30 years of experience in the sport of purebred dogs. In her current AKC position as Vice President, she oversees the Publications, Government Relations and Communications and PR departments of the American Kennel Club.

Jason Taylor National PRO Sales Director for Royal Canin is an AKC dog show expert, dog show handler and served as the AKC National Championship Assistant Show Chairman for more than half a decade.
