2 sent to hospital after car crashes into west side home

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two people were injured when a car crashed into a home on the west side in the Farley neighborhood, Wayne Township Fire Department said.

Speed and alcohol possibly contributed to the crash, investigators said.

Two males were in the car and four people were in the home near Doris and Farley drives, Capt. Michael D. Pruitt with the fire department said in an email. One person trapped in the car was freed and taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition. A person in the home was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department took a second occupant of the car, believed to be the driver, into custody, although his identity or the reason he was taken into custody. IMPD did not immediately respond to an email seeking additional information.

There were no other injuries reported.

Hazardous-material removal crews dealt with a fuel leak from the car, Pruitt said.

Authorities were dispatched to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m.
