Two appointed state lawmakers take office

Two new state representatives were appointed by GOP party leaders after the election but before the first day of the 2015 General Assembly. Tony Cook and Donna Schaibley were both sworn into office Tuesday. Meantime, there will be efforts to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Cook replaces Eric Turner. Turner won re-election in a contested race even though he said he wouldn’t serve another term in the General Assembly. That decision came too late to get Cook’s name on the ballot.
