Dry start to the holiday weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Quiet weather pattern Saturday, with wintry mix possibilities Sunday and Christmas Day.

Today:

Dry weather today as a ridge of high pressure settles in across the Midwest.  While there will still be quite  a bit of cloud cover throughout the area, we should manage some rays of sunshine from time to time – especially this afternoon.  Highs top out in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Tonight:

Clouds will be on the increase this evening.  Otherwise, we’re chilly and quiet.  Lows fall to the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Sunday:

Cloudy conditions will rule for the day.  An upper level wave moving through may squeeze out some light precipitation in the form of a rain/snow mix for the morning hours.  Very little if any accumulation is expected, and the precipitation should be gone by the afternoon and evening hours.

Afternoon high temperatures finish off in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Christmas Eve:

Quiet weather for the day, with a mix of sun and clouds.  Highs hit the lower 40s.

Christmas Day:

Like Sunday, a weak disturbance moving through will squeeze out some light rain/snow showers in the morning.  Not enough to make for a white Christmas, as a accumulations will be light, if anything at all.

Temperatures top out in the lower to middle 40s Tuesday afternoon.

8 day forecast:

Best precipitation chances move in for the end of the week, as a strong system moves in Thursday, brining mild temperatures, with widespread rain and gusty winds.  Rain may hang on into Friday, as temperatures take a tumble Friday afternoon into the start of next weekend.
