Soggy stretch setting up

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Our streak of heat will come to an end, with several rain chances looming over the next few days.

Tonight:

A few spotty downpours will be around through the mid evening hours, with partly cloudy skies late tonight into the overnight.

Lows remain warm, and the air stays humid.  Lows fall to the lower 70s.

Thursday:

A day of change, as a cold front slowly creeps through the state, sparking showers and storms across the area by late morning and into the afternoon.  No severe weather is expected, but some locally heavy downpours with gusty winds can’t be ruled out.

Highs top out in the middle 80s.

Friday:

Remnants of Gordon begin to approach central Indiana.  Combine that with Thursdays front nearby, and we should see a good chance for widespread rain across central Indiana, starting early in the morning, and chances continuing through the evening hours.

Highs top out in the upper 70s.

Weekend:

Potential for a wash this weekend still in play, although not set in stone, as the remnants of Gordon track close to/into the Midwest.  Heavy rain bands will be possible both Saturday and Sunday, which could lead to some flooding issues.  Guidance shows the potential of up ot 3″ of rainfall or more in many locations over the 3 day stretch of Friday-Sunday.

The highest probability for the heaviest, and steadiest rain will be Saturday night through early afternoon, Sunday.  Rain and storms should slowly exit from west to east late Sunday afternoon/evening.

Much of this forecast could change, depending on the track of Gordon.  If you have outdoor plans, like the Colts home opener, Penrod Arts fair, or any of the racing events at IMS, be sure to check back with the forecast over the next few days for updates.

8-day forecast:

Quiet and seaosnable weather pattern sets up for the first half of the work week.  Highs should hover around 80°, with partly cloudy conditions.
