Sunny and mild now, but winter looks to arrive by week’s end

We’ve seen a near perfect start to December with plenty of sunshine and above average temperatures! Enjoy it while it lasts, because we’ll see a dramatic swing through the second half of this week.

After a cool start, you will be able to shed the coat tomorrow afternoon with highs quickly rising into the upper 50s and low 60s under sunny skies.

We’ll continue our sunny streak into the work week as well with highs rushing into the low to mid 60s, about 20 degrees above average, Monday afternoon! Winds will be pretty brisk, so tie down the Christmas lawn décor or you might have to walk a few blocks to find it.

The high winds are just ahead of a potent cold front which looks to slide in early Tuesday morning. Rain chances will arrive late Monday and early Tuesday with a few rumbles of thunder also possible.

Behind the front, temperatures look to plummet. We’ll top out in the upper 50s Tuesday morning before temps sink into the low 20s by early Wednesday morning. High temperatures will run anywhere between 10-20° below average for the foreseeable future past Wednesday.

In addition to bitter cold air, several snow opportunities will slide our way through the tail end of the forecast. Some accumulation is possible Friday night into Saturday morning and Sunday night into Monday, though we’ll have to narrow down accumulation potential and traffic impacts as we head through the week.
