Soggy and mild Thursday ahead of winter storm Friday

Temperatures are already in the mid 50s this morning, roughly 20 degrees above average for this time of the year.

Temps will slowly rise to near 60° this afternoon with continued scattered rain showers.

Late tonight, a potent cold front will dive in and the new northwest wind will bring a burst of frigid air into central Indiana by early Friday morning. A Winter Storm WATCH goes into effect at 1 a.m. and will continue until 1 a.m. Saturday for central Indiana, later in southeast Indiana.

That cold air will change our rain showers to a mix of freezing rain and sleet through the overnight and snow by tomorrow afternoon. Ice accumulations could total 0.10″ in many areas before we add-on an additional 2-5″ of snow for many.
