Sleet and freezing rain causing slick roads this morning. Temperatures have continued to drop with gusty winds out of the NW funneling arctic air. As temperatures get colder the precipitation will transition to snow showers late morning and early afternoon. Highs significantly colder only topping out in the lower 20s for today. Snow accumulation throughout the afternoon likely with higher amounts SE of Indy. We have a Winter Weather Advisory for Indy and points north until late tonight with a Winter Storm Warning areas south of Indy until late tonight as well. Snow fall amounts for Indy and points north mainly under the 1-2″ range while areas under the Winter Storm Warning could see 2-5″ of snow.
The now tapers off late tonight for SE parts of the state by midnight. This weekend gets down right cold with highs in the lower 20s and upper teens. Mainly cloudy for Saturday with a decrease in clouds for Sunday, An additional shot of snow arrives on Monday with highs rebounding quickly to near 30°. Some of the snow w e see Monday could accumulate. Stay tuned for totals.
Tuesday we get down right frigid with highs only topping out in the single digits and lows falling sub-zero. The cold weather still sticks around for the bulk of the week.
