Woman dies in shooting, crash in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person has died following a shooting and a crash on the city’s northwest side Tuesday morning.

A second person is also in serious condition, as a result of the crash.

The female who was taken to the hospital in critical condition has now died, according to police. She was originally transported to the hospital in critical condition.

She’s been identified as 40-year-old Jane Waughfield. The coroner’s office has not yet released her official cause and manner of death.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the area of West 30th Street and Lafayette Road just after 9:30 a.m for a report of a person shot.

Police said the female driver was shot at some point which then led to the crash. A male driver, in the other vehicle, was also taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police are unsure whether the shooting actually took place.

Officers have said the intersection will be closed for cleanup for several hours.
