Earth Day festivities held at Jewish Community Center

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — More than 70 organizations turned out for the Jewish Community Center’s annual Earth Day community celebration.

For the past seven years, the event has attracted more than 2,000 people to the center. This year, Earth Day fell on the same day Israel turned 70. Those at the JCC decided to celebrate both occasions.

Sunday’s event was free to the public; however donations were appreciated

Eric Koehler, CEO of the JCC, explained why Earth Day is so important to those who use the center.

“It is a strong part of our cultural to take care of our earth and nature, and it was a great way to approve both and a great way to combine both celebrations.”

Those in attendance also had the chance to win a new camera during a raffle.
