Woman attacked by 4 dogs continues to improve

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The health of a 20-year-old Kokomo woman continues to improve following a dog attack in Carroll County.

As of Tuesday morning, 20-year-old Rebekah Forgey was in good condition at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Forgey and 19-year-old Isabella George of Carroll County were attacked by four pit bulls while walking down County Road 225 East near Cutler on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 1.

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby said the owner of the dogs, 50-year-old Richard Darter, unsuccessfully tried to intervene and was injured in the process.

A Good Samaritan got the women and Darter into her car and called 911.

George and Darter were taken to IU Health Arnett in Lafayette for treatment and were later released.

Leazenby said his office has received complaints about the dogs roaming off the property. He said he wants to pursue the incident to the fullest extent of the law against Darter.

All four dogs were located and put down.
