Possible connection found in multiple bank robberies

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A connection may have been made in the Kokomo and Flora bank robberies from earlier this year.

The Salin Bank in Flora was robbed twice during the month of February. But on Jan. 11, the BMO Harris Bank and Security Federal Savings Bank were both robbed in Kokomo within six hours of each other.

According to Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby, all of the robberies are tied together. Flora and Kokomo police departments are teaming up to see what they could piece together with the evidence.

Kokomo Police Maj. Brian Seldon said the investigation is ongoing. He said they are holding any key details right now for the public’s safety.

“There is always a concern when there is a bank robbery. But again, we want to try and put these people in jail,” said Seldon. “If anyone has any information or concerns about these robberies, we ask for their help. We beefed up patrols around the banks and we are actively going in and walking into the banks, so we are making our presence known.”

While Maj. Seldon said he could not confirm if the Flora and Kokomo robberies were connected, he did say he believes the two Kokomo robberies are connected.
