One dead, others injured after Monday evening Vigo Co. crash

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – One person is dead and two others are hurt after a crash in Vigo County.

Police were called to U.S. Highway 41 and Pimento Circle around 5:20 p.m. Monday for a multi-vehicle crash.

Indiana State Police said 86-year-old Carolyn L. Vanwey, of Robinson, Illinois was travelling south on U.S. 41. She was attempting to turn onto Pimento Circle when she drove into the path of an oncoming jeep.

The jeep was driven by 19-year-old Allyssa Angel of Terre Haute. According to police, her jeep struck Vanwey’s vehicle.

That impact caused Vanwey’s vehicle to hit another vehicle, driven by 46-year-old Andrew J. Moshos of Brazil, Indiana. His vehicle was stopped westbound on Pimento Circle at U.S. 41.

Police report Carolyn Vanwey was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with internal injuries. Her husband, 85-year-old Donald Tuttle of Robinson, Illinois, died at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Allyssa Angel had minor injuries, and Moshos didn’t report any injuries.
