Fire damages south side home
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A south side home was heavily damaged by fire Tuesday afternoon.
Indianapolis Fire Department was dispatched to the 6500 block of Yellowstone Parkway shortly before 3 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and black smoke coming from the home.
According to IFD, a 20-year old man said he was inside the home by himself when he heard the smoke detectors sounding an alarm. He went downstairs to find heavy smoke and quickly retreated upstairs. The man said he jumped off the balcony in the rear of the house and ran to a neighbor’s home for help.
The man was examined at the scene and released. There were no injuries associated with the fire.
The fire remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at $150,000.
