Community Health Network breaks ground on new cancer center

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Community Health Network broke ground on a new $60 million cancer center on Tuesday.

Community Cancer Center North will provide state of the art expanded oncology services.

The new facility will be located on the Community Hospital North campus along Shadeland Avenue. The two will be connected by a walkway.

The CEO of Community Health Network, Bryan Mills, says they have outgrown the space in their current cancer center.

“The need for this new facility couldn’t be greater. We have outgrown the space in our current cancer center on the Community North campus, and this new building will not only provide the kind of exceptional cancer care our patients already expect and receive, but also a host of new services that take cancer care well into the future,” said Mills.

The new facility will treat medical, radiation and surgical oncology patients. The new building will be three-stories and is expected to be a 104,000 foot facility.

“Our new cancer facility was designed completely around our patients and their personal needs during the treatment process,” said Jianan Graybill, MD, radiation oncologist and lead physician on the project.

Construction is expected to be complete in early 2017.
