How to be safe on the water this summer
Summer is on the minds of many, and with the warmer temperatures, comes activities like boating. Have some fun, but keep safety your #1 priority this year.
David Drashil, current Commander and past Executive Officer of the Hoosier Sail & Power Squadron, and Damon Davis, Past District Commander for Squadrons in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, share more about National Safe Boating Week and the big kickoff at Geist Reservoir.
About: The United States Power Squadron was organized in 1914 as a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable through education. The USPS has over 40,000 members involved in over 400 regional squadrons. Hoosier Sail & Power Squadron is a unit of the USPS. Our members are boating families who promote safe boating through education and example. We offer a variety of classes throughout the year in topics such as Seamanship, Navigation, Knots, Docking and other related subjects. In addition, the Squadron offers several social gatherings during the year including a Summer Rendezvous. This year’s rendezvous will be on Lake Michigan in the port of St. Joseph.
