Fans welcome home Indiana Fever after falling to Lynx
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indiana Fever returned to Indianapolis, after losing the WNBA championship.
The fever came up short in game five against the Minnesota Lynx last night in Minneapolis.
Tamika Catchings had 18 points and 11 rebounds. But the Lynx held the Fever to 35 percent shooting.
The Lynx won 69 to 52.
A large crowd of fans gathered at the Indianapolis International Airport’s Civic Plaza to welcome the team home and show their support after the team’s great season.
Three years ago the team beat the Lynx for their first championship and the first pro basketball championship in Indiana since the ABA Indiana Pacers in 1973, according to the team.
The team also said that they have reached at least the conference finals eight times in the past 11 years, including the WNBA Finals appearances in 2009 and 2012.
