Rolls-Royce secures defense contract
INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) – Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense. The more than $34 million agreement is a modification to a previously-awarded contract for the production of gas turbine engines.
The U.S. Navy is procuring the engines directly from Rolls-Royce and providing them to Rhode Island-based Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) as government-furnished equipment for incorporation into the SSC LCAC 100 Class craft.
The work is expected to be completed in Indianapolis by June 2022. The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
