Community invited to help paint monarch butterfly murals during Spirit & Place Festival

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Community members are invited to help paint four murals showing the life cycle of a monarch butterfly during the Spirit & Place Festival next month.

The theme of the festival — which runs from Nov. 4-14 and features 29 events — is change.

Megan Jefferson of the Jefferson Art Studio is organizing a part of the festival called Monarchs in a Changing World: How These Butterflies Bring Us Together. Jefferson came on Daybreak to talk about the murals and how people can get involved in painting them.

The painting of the murals will take place at Oliver’s Woods Nature Preserve on Nov. 7 from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

Anyone wanting to attend must register on the festival’s website.
