INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana state health leaders say they are monitoring the spread of coronavirus in the United States, but that no possible cases have been identified in Indiana.

State Health Commissioner Kristina Box tells WISH-TV there are currently “no suspected cases” in the state.

Box also said the situation is “rapidly evolving,” adding that the CDC is waiting for test results on potential cases in at least 22 states.

“We do not believe it is as infectious as influenza is, which we’re in the middle of an outbreak right now,” Box said. “We do not see this as infectious as measles, so it’s very, very important to keep this in perspective.”

Note: A story published Monday quoted Box as saying “we are monitoring cases.” The “we” referenced the national health community, not cases specific to Indiana.
