Police identify pedestrian hit and killed on eastbound I-70
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Authorities have released the name of the pedestrian struck and killed on Interstate 70.
State police say they’re still trying to determine why Allen Dailey, 70, of Indianapolis, appears to have walked into the travel lanes of eastbound I-70 Sunday night before being struck and killed.
Shortly after 10 p.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on eastbound I-70 near the 86 mile marker.
Around 10:40 p.m., Indiana State Police Public Information Officer John Perrine tweeted the following statement:
When State Trooper Casey Witzigreuter reached the scene, he located a male lying on the right shoulder, unconscious and not breathing.
Crews from the Indianapolis Fire Department began emergency medical aid, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just after 11:25 p.m. Perrine confirmed Dailey had died:
Police say the driver of the car, 63-year-old Dennis Collens Jr., of Batesville, fully cooperated with the investigation.
State police are working to determine exactly what happened but say they do not believe alcohol to be a factor.Never miss another Facebook post from WISH-TV
