Wednesday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Here’s a look at Wednesday’s business headlines.

Oil and gas

Oil and gas prices are up.

While the Carolinas are not big energy producing regions, there is worry about disruption.

Also, there is another storm forming in the Atlantic, Isaac, that potentially could hit the energy-rich areas of the Gulf of Mexico.

Small business

The latest numbers from small business owners showed their optimism about the economy is at the highest level ever.

The NFIB Small Business Index found those business owners say they plan to hire more workers and buy more equipment.

Chase

Chase Bank is working on a way to reward customers for improving their credit scores.

While it’s not official yet, it may lower interest rates or offer rewards points for people who boost their scores.

The ideas are part of a larger effort at the firm’s consumer bank to help customers improve their financial health.

iPhone

Nearly 28 million Americans believe that getting one of the Apple iPhones to be introduced Wednesday is worth going into to debt to purchase, according to a Wallethub survey.

Some models are expected to cost more than $1,000.

Five times more Millennials than Baby Boomers would go into debt for the new phones.

In addition to the new phones, a refresh of the Apple watch is also expected.
