INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police have identified the man who was shot and killed on the city’s east side Saturday morning.

Officers were called out to a home in the 1800 block of Heather Court after hearing a person may have been shot.

When they arrived, they found 31-year-old Dexter Smith of Indianapolis unresponsive in a bedroom in the home. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the home Smith was found in was his home.

One witness said they may have seen someone who was running out of the house, but detectives are still working to identify any suspects in this deadly shooting.

Police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
