Welcoming in the New Year with new babies

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WISH) – The first baby born in the Indianapolis region is a much-loved and very important bit of news for every New Year’s Day.

The award for newest baby born in Indianapolis goes to little Mariama Faith Hartgrove, to new parents Elena and Don Hartgrove, at 12:02 a.m. at IU Health West Hospital. She is a healthy 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and 20 and 1/2 inches. The new Hartgrove family is from Clermont, Indiana.

Nathan and Jamie Whittington welcomed their baby girl Amelia at 1:17 a.m.at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. Little Amelia weighs in at 7 pounds, 1 ounce and is 19 and 3/4 inches.

The third announced baby for central Indiana is Symphony Lynn Newbold. This newborn girl was born to Destiny Bussell-Dzelme and Ryan Newbold at Franciscan St. Francis Indianapolis Hospital at 1:25 a.m. Symphony is 20 and 1/4 inches long, and the scale reads in at 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
