Neighbors fight back against recent break-ins

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)- The Marion County Prosecutors Office is helping Indiana homeowners feel more secure after several break-ins were reported near 71st Street and Keystone Avenue on the northeast side.

Signs displaying security systems are positioned in front of almost every home on Sarto Drive. Neighbors say a suspicious man went door-to-door asking for help. Investigators believe he was probably scouting the area before committing the crimes.

Michelle Weber, a mother of two decided to take action to protect her family and the neighborhood by using technology. She downloaded the app called “Next Door” to her smartphone, you can post alerts informing people you invite.

Local law enforcement also offered to help, they are hosting a free crime prevention forum open to all community members on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church. If you are unable to make it and would like to set up a free informative class call 317-327-5716.
