Man burns building materials, garage catches fire

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — A house undergoing renovations in the 1700 block of North Audubon Road caught fire Wednesday evening, leaving the owner with hefty damage costs.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the fire started around 5:55 p.m., in the garage.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes, and nobody was injured.

The man who owns the property has had it for about two months, and was in the process of renovating it, according to IFD.

Investigators said the cause of the fire may have been from the man burning non-wood building materials in the fireplace.

IFD said the estimated damage was $60,000.
