INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Department of Public Safety suggests that commuters plan for the possibility of traffic delays while President Obama visits Indianapolis on Feb. 6.

Details of the president’s plans remain undisclosed at this time, but commuters should be advised that their routines might be disrupted on Friday.

“It will be an honor to have the President of the United States visit Indianapolis on Friday,” said Director of Public Safety Troy Riggs. “A presidential visit is an extraordinary event for any city, and the day will require our residents and guests to be patient and understanding of the security needs surrounding this event. Commuters should prepare for delays and allow extra travel time to reach their destination as they make their way around the Indianapolis area tomorrow.”

Obama will be speaking at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis about what the White House calls middle class economics.

The United States Secret Service will be assisted by the Department of Public Safety during President Obama’s visit to Indianapolis.
