ICAN is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created in 2002 with the intent of creating powerful and positive connections between at-risk individuals, animals, and people with physical and developmental disabilities. ICAN offers select inmates the opportunity to learn how to train service dogs for the purpose of helping people and families with disabilities.
Jillian Miller, the executive director of ICAN shares how you can help ICAN and get a great Valentine’s Day gift to give! www.icandog.org
It may be the first time in that person’s life that they have had responsibility beyond themselves…it is a way they can provide hope to other people and hopefully get the same for themselves.”
The Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN) is selling “Puppy Love” valentines again to help raise funds for its service dog training program. Three years ago, the organization introduced these special gift box valentines and offered a delivery option that included a visit from a service dog in training to businesses, schools, retirement communities and healthcare facilities located within 20 miles of the Indianapolis downtown area. The success of this program continues to grow. ICAN is happy to again offer these valentine gift boxes along with the service dog delivery option for 2015. Also new to this year’s program, is the option to deliver a dog art painting created by one of ICAN’s dogs in training. The back of the painting has a photo of the dog along with their signature paw print. In addition, Indianapolis Yellow Cab is donating their services to help transport ICAN volunteers making deliveries in the downtown and surrounding area.
Many new items are included in this year’s Puppy Love Valentine’s Day gift box – hand made infinity scarves for women and a neck scarf for men, chocolate brownie pops, chocolate chip cookies, red velvet truffle, assorted candies, a pack of variety dog note cards, miniature open addition print by Nancy Noel, heart shaped dog biscuits, a special Valentine card, and more. Cost for a Valentine gift box and/or dog art range from $25 to $150 depending on day of delivery. ICAN’s Puppy Love Valentines would not be possible without the support of Curran Architecture, Indianapolis Yellow Cab and Three Dog Bakery. Orders are being accepted now through Monday, February 9th at www.icandog.org.
