Take the Polar Plunge for a good cause
This weekend people can take the Polar Plunge for a good cause. Special Olympics Indiana will host the event Saturday, March 7, starting at 8am at Eagle Creek Beach.
The Polar Plunge is the largest signature fundraiser for the organization, as it invites Hoosiers to be “Freezin’ for a Reason” by raising funds and awareness for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This is the 15th Polar Plunge held in Indiana during the past two months. Last year, the Polar Plunge season raised more than $580,000 for Special Olympics Indiana.

Early Bird Plunge: 8:30 A.M. (First 100 Plungers to designate online)
Costume Contest: 9:45 A.M.
Opening Ceremonies: 10:00 A.M.

“The Polar Plunge not only raises needed funds for Special Olympics athletes to train and compete year-round – the Plunge is a mechanism for hundreds of people who plunge to show off just how much they love the cause of Special Olympics,” shared Michael Furnish, President/CEO for Special Olympics Indiana. “In the final analysis, our organization is all about the acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities and it’s very encouraging so many are committed enough to make the icy plunge.”
In order to plunge, participants must raise a “bear” minimum of $75 ($50 minimum with a student ID). Awards are given for those who raise the most funds for Special Olympics Indiana. This event also includes prizes for the best costume, incentives for dollars raised and an After Splash Bash.
