Officials to break ground on major I-65 project

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Gov. Mike Pence will be in Greenwood on Tuesday to help kick off a major construction project.

The $35 million project to add lanes to a 13-mile section of Interstate 65 between Main Street in Greenwood and Southport Road will soon get underway. As many as three lanes at a time will be shut down during some parts of the project, which begins next Monday, March 16.

Tuesday morning, Gov. Pence will join other leaders for a ceremony marking the start of the work. Because of the threat of rain, the “groundbreaking” will be held about a mile away from the interstate at the Greenwood City Center on Madison Avenue.
