Two men charged in 2009 Muncie murder

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – Two men were arrested Monday in connection to the 2009 murder of a Muncie woman.

A Delaware County court authorized arrest warrants for Danny Lee Saintignon, Jr. and Tyler J. Barton for the Dec. 24, 2009 murder of Monica “Nikki” Brown.

In 2009, Brown was found with multiple stab wounds in her bedroom on the 1400 block of South Kinney Avenue. Police state that Saintignon had been a suspect from 2009 because of evidence found at the scene of the murder.

From 2009 to 2015, Delaware County investigators continued to collect evidence on Saintignon related to Brown’s murder.

On Monday, both Saintignon and Barton were formally charged.

Saintignon was charged with two counts of murder as well as conspiracy to commit burglary resulting in bodily injury and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. He is currently serving a sentence on an unrelated matter in the Indiana Department of Corrections. Police state that there are plans to transport him to Delaware County for an initial hearing in the near future.

Barton was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary resulting in bodily injury and assisting a criminal. He was taken to the Delaware County Jail.
