Eagle Creek baby ‘Amelia’ has headstone dedicated

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A headstone was dedicated on Saturday for the baby who was found in Eagle Creek in 2014.

IMPD found a female infant wrapped inside a blue sweatshirt on Dec. 28, 2014. They said that it looked like she had been born at the scene.

The blue sweatshirt the infant was wrapped in had an “Aviation Maintenance Vincennes University-Indianapolis” logo on it.

Linda Znachko with He Knows Your Name Ministries said she knew immediately she had to help the infant, even after her death.

“I do feel my heart swell with claim over the child and protectiveness comes,” Znachko said. “Every life matters.”

She organized a funeral for the baby, and named her Amelia, using the aviation logo as inspiration.Amelia was buried Jan. 17 in the Washington Park East Cemetery.

Znachko performed the headstone dedication on Saturday.

IMPD is still investigating Amelia’s death. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS (8477).
