Pacers wife holds prom dress drive

For the third year Lesley West, wife of Pacers forward David West, will conduct her annual Lesley West Prom Dress Giveaway on Saturday, April 18 for more than 750 needy girls from Indianapolis high schools. With over 1000 prom gowns to giveaway to local teenagers who need a gown for prom, no one will go home empty-handed…but you must register in advance. There is a limited number in each time slot so don’t wait.

I’m opening this up to any Junior or Senior high schooler that needs a prom dress. They have to register their name, age…we just need sizes.”

Mrs. West started the program years ago in New Orleans when David played for the then-Hornets. When West joined the Pacers, he and his wife immediately made an impact in the community with computer and financial donations to inner-city schools in addition to being the primary sponsor of the Pacers’ Thanksgiving “Welcome to Our House” project that sees the team feed needy families over the holiday season.

I think that prom is a very important night in a young women’s memory in her high school career.”

Girls from those schools can register at Pacers.com/prom. Each hour, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., will feature 75 girls coming into Bankers Life Fieldhouse to pick out a dress, get fitted and enjoy some other surprises. “We want to make this a special day for each student,” says West. Anyone interested in supporting the project through prom dress or monetary donations is asked to contact Karen Atkeson at the Pacers at katkeson@pacers.com.
