Vigil held for hit-and-run victim

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) —  Friends and family are thanking the community for helping solve a hit and run… that killed an Indianapolis woman.

Tuesday evening they held a vigil near the crash site.

Tanya Turman died Sunday.

Her mother says while the accident last month and investigation for the past several weeks have been painful, she’s now at peace.

“Twenty-three days, a hard 23 days. I was glad that I did get that time with her, and when she passed away, it was real easy. She wasn’t in no pain. She’s at peace now,” said Pamela Grant.

After the crash, Corey Patrick eventually turned himself in.

He’s now charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
