IMPD: Man dead after illegal dice game

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Detectives in Indianapolis are investigating a deadly shooting that happened on the city’s near north side Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the area of West 30th Street and North Capitol Avenue around 6:20 p.m. on the report of shots fired. A few minutes later, they received a report of a person shot in the 2900 block of N. Capitol Ave.

Police arrived on scene and found 45-year-old Shawn Nash of Indianapolis suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives believe Nash was shot to death after an illegal dice game in the area. Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
