Dog poisoned in Wisconsin

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – Authorities in Wisconsin are trying to find a person who planted poison to kill a dog.

Someone left a mixture of meat and rat poison in the backyard of the couple’s home last week.

The couple’s golden retriever ate some of the mixture.

They rushed the dog to the hospital, but it was too late. The dog had several seizures and he had to put to sleep.

“To get up the last couple of mornings and not have him there, to feed, to greet me good morning, it’s been miserable,” said owner Tim Rittmeyer.

Investigators said they have a few suspects in the case.

Poisoning a dog is a felony offense.
