Red Gold Tip: Making a Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Linda Wallace from Red Gold shows us how to make the Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich for your family.

1. Heat 1 tablespoon salted butter in a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Do not butter bread and put on skillet. Doesn’t crisp the edges of bread like melting butter in skillet first.

2. Place cheese between 2 slices of butter. For variety use different types of cheese along with cheddar – gouda, Monterey Jack, Swiss, Fontina or Gruyere. Press sandwich slightly and place in skillet.

3. Cook until golden brown on bottom, 3 to 5 minutes.

4. Flip, adding more butter if needed and cook until other side is golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes.

Using a Panini Press – Electric and Stove Top

1. Use skillet on stove top with pan lid as a press.

2. Prepare sandwich just like regular grilled cheese but press both sides.

Using the Waffle Iron to Grill Sandwiches

1. Cooking the grilled cheese in a waffle iron is a real surprise and fun way to make the sandwich.

2. It cooks the sandwich evenly on both sides simultaneously, saving you time.

3. The sandwich comes out crispy, crunchy and cheesy and something the kids will love.

4. On the Go Breakfast – Wisk 3 eggs with dash of milk and stir in diced peppers, mushrooms, onions and shredded cheese. Pour into heated waffle iron and coon 2 minutes and you have a delicious breakfast you can eat with one hand.
