Colts rookie camp kicks off

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Colts three day rookie camp kicked off at the team complex Friday.

There were 46 players hoping to catch the eye of the coaches that were on the field. Some of the players are free agents and others first year athletes including all eight draft picks.

Among them was top draft choice Phillip Dorsett, who was wearing number 16. The wide receiver from Miami said he is coming to camp full of confidence on his first day as a pro-athlete.

“It’s great just to be here. Just to have the opportunity to be a Colt,” said a smiling Dorsett. “Like I said, I’m blessed. A lot of people don’t really get this opportunity, and I’m just definitely going to take advantage of it.”

When he was asked if he was nervous today Dorsett said, “No, not at all. I’m just happy to be here, like I said. I just cherish the moment. It’s a dream, so I don’t really get nervous about it. Everything is more crisp. You see that everybody is flying around faster. It’s a lot different than college, but not too different. Saw some of the similar concepts, same things (and) same playbook, so it’s good. I can’t wait to get back out there for real practice.”

The rookie camp end on Sunday, before the off season workouts begin for the veteran players on Monday.
