Firefighters rescue mother duck and 10 ducklings
CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – Firefighters for Carmel Engine 44 are being called heroes for saving a mother duck and her hatchlings.
A concerned citizen alerted the fire station that a mother duck and her brood were stuck in a drain. Steven Frye, Michael Brisco, Michael McNeely and Brandon Greiner decided to respond to the scene.
The firefighters walked to the location and found the 10 ducklings and the mother in a drain. There were two access points to the drain and the firefighters used a broom on one end of the drain to corral them into the bucket to catch them on the other side.
The firefighters then placed them in a bag and set them free in the woods by the creek.
