Rand Paul’s senior staffer makes headlines
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – People are still talking about the video of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s senior staffer licking a camera lens Monday.
According to Time Magazine, after a 90-second confrontation between Senator Rand Paul and a Democrat, the confrontation ended with Rand Paul’s staffer licking the camera.
“Just when you thought Rand Paul’s campaign couldn’t get any stranger, his senior staffer in New Hampshire decided to taste our tracker’s camera lens today,” said Preston Maddock, a spokesman for American Bridge 21st Century, the liberal group that had sent the operative. “It was truly bizarre, creepy and unprofessional.”
The magazine said American Bridge calls themselves opposition researchers. Their job is to dig up dirt on rivals and pass it along to reporters and activists.
Time said companies like American Bridge and America Rising have been sending one-person camera crews to document the rival candidates’ campaign stops.
Both companies are each million-dollar organizations who are known for discrediting the candidates to voters and capturing footage of candidates behaving oddly.
Rand Paul’s senior staffer gave the company the moment they were looking for: awkward, embarrassing and newsworthy.
