Wanted man eludes police, hides in mall dumpster

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police in Indianapolis say they found a man wanted for carjacking hiding in a dumpster outside Castleton Square Mall Wednesday morning.

Police say they found two men asleep in a stolen car in the mall parking lot after an anonymous tip. When an officer searched one man, he felt a gun.

That’s when police say the man ran off towards the empty mall. The suspect eventually jumped into a dumpster to hide.

A K-9 officer found the man hiding, but he wouldn’t come out. Police then say they used gas to force the man to give himself up.

Officers also say they found the gun in the dumpster. According to police, the man was wanted for carjacking and was arrested for attempted murder in the past, but never convicted.
